VIJAYAWADA: AP Women’s Commission chairman Tripurana Venkataratnam said that a report has been presented to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu seeking setting up of a Women’s Directorate in the state.

Speaking at a press conference at State Guest House here Monday, Tripurana Venkataratnam said that a report has been submitted to government to form Rapid Protection Force (RPF) to create awareness about women’s safety in rural areas. She said that stress has to be put on making Vijayawada a safe city. She said that the city has been grabbing headlines in the past for crimes against women which should stop now. The chairman revealed that the Commission had received 1300 cases in 2013 among which 700 have been solved. One can call 040-27542017 or 040-27540415 if they have any complaint, she said.
