SI Dies in Gun Misfire Case at Police Station

ONGOLE: K Vishnu Gopal, a young SI who was still under probation died as his pistol misfired at the J Panguluru police station here Friday.

The SI was immediately rushed to Sangamithra hospital after the bullet went straight into his head but was declared brought dead. He is a native of Nellore district.

While the police say that it was a case of pistol misfiring, there is another version doing the round that the cop might have committed suicide.

It is also said that corruption charges were levelled against Vishnu Gopal and even higher officials have conducted an inquiry on him. Suspicion is rising over the cause of death as normally in pistol misfire cases wounds are caused in the lower part of the body and not in the head.
