ELURU: A couple was killed in a road accident at Krishnampalem village of Devarapalli mandal in West Godavari district Monday.
According to the police, Pendyala Veera Nageswara Sastry (50), a native of Vijayawada, along with his wife Satyaveni (45) and two children were returning to Vijayawada from Rajahmundry in their car.
When they reached Krishnampalem village, Sastry rammed the vehicle into a lorry from behind as the lorry driver applied sudden brake.
The couple died on the spot while the children who were sitting in the rear seat escaped unhurt. The Devarapalli police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to post-mortem.
A case has been registered.
