Master Plan Envisages Development only Around AP Capital City
HYDERABAD: The issue of planning and construction of a new capital city for the reorganised state seems to be pushing the Andhra Pradesh government from one controversy to another.
Even as a fierce political storm is raging over procuring thousands of acres of fertile agricultural lands for the new capital, which is being planned in between Vijayawada and Guntur, the draft master plan, prepared by Singapore agencies Surbana and Jurong for the new capital, is likely to attract criticism from various quarters.
The reason is that though many intellectuals and politicos had already warned the state government against construction of the new capital on the lines of Hyderabad where all development was concentrated in around it, the draft blueprint only wants to develop another Hyderabad in AP.
As per the draft master plan, all industrial clusters and townships will come up in and around the new capital city to realise the dreams of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to build a gigantic world-class capital for the reorganised State.
As per the draft blueprint, Vijayawada and the new Capital city, which will stretch across villages in Tadepalli, Mangalagiri and Tullur mandals of Guntur district, will be developed as business and trading hub in the IT, ITES, electronics, auto and agri-processing sectors.
Similarly, Nandigama will be a pharmaceutical hub whereas Nuzvid will be a fabrication hub with focus on rubber and fabricated material.
Gannavaram will be a value-added economic hub with FTZ/SEZ zones, textile, auto, aerospace and IT/ITES industries whereas Gudivada will be an aquaculture hub with logistics park.
Guntur will be an agricultural trading hub with agro-processing and textile industries and Amaravati a tourism hub with temples, schools and heritage structures.
Tenali will be a manufacturing hub with focus on agro, textile, metal and mineral sectors. At the same time, the the draft plan proposes to develop the city as centre of Andhra culture and Telugu literature.
Sattenapalli will be a heavy industries hub with a focus on textile and mineral products.
