Depressed Man Ends Life on Track

GUNTUR: A depressed 45-year-old man committed suicide by jumping in front of a goods train at Machavaram in on Sunday.

According to Ponnur Rural SI Md Rafi, the victim was identified as Kuchipudi Gandhi (45), who resided at Mulukuduru village with his wife Sangeetha (42) and two daughters. He worked as CEO at Chintalapudi Cooperative Credit Society.

Gandhi ran to the rail track of Machavaram and was knocked down by a goods train. Alerted by locals, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for a postmortem.

Police said that Gandhi was suspended last month by the cooperative society on charges of misappropriation of `50,000. He was very much depressed over the suspension. Their family members alleged that the exaggerated coverage of the issue in the media had led Gandhi to take the extreme step.
