KURNOOL: District sessions judge P Venkata Jyothirmai on Wednesday sentenced two auto drivers to imprisonment for lifetime and imposed `5.30 lakh fine each for rape, attempt to murder and theft. The two shall stay in jail until their natural death, the judge said.
This kind of punishment was not awarded by any person in a Kurnool court before. Ravi alias Mattigadu (A1) and his friend Srinivasulu (A2) picked up an engineering student in their auto while she was waiting at Rajvihar centre to go home. They allegedly raped her and hit her with stones and escaped from the spot.
On Wednesday, after several hearings, police reproduced them before court for final verdict. Ravi (24) allegedly raped several women along with his friends. “My hobby is to rape girls and women,” he reportedly told police.
