VIJAYAWADA: Thanks to immediate response from the police after dialling 100, a man’s life was saved.
Alerted by the staff manning Dial 100, beat constable on Prakasam Barrage rushed to the spot where one G Aravind Babu was preparing to jump from the Prakasam Barrage to commit suicide. If there had been even a minute’s delay, Babu would have been dead. Babu’s sister Jyothi, who called Dial 100, said his brother was depressed following pressure from money lenders for repayment of loans and had decided to resort to the extreme step.
Timely action on the part of the police had saved a precious life. Babu was taken into custody and counselled.
