Hotels: Cops to Get Online Guest Info

VIJAYAWADA: As people checking into hotels and lodges are subjected to inconvenience during police raids, Vijayawada police have come up with a computer programme to have the details of those checking in shared online with police department.

Though it has been an old practice for the managements of hotels and lodges in the city to share with police the details of the people checking in, it was not done immediately.

On the directions of City Police Commissioner AB Venkateswara Rao, a computer programme has been designed.

A login and a password will be provided to every hotel and lodge in the city, which have been directed to have a computer with internet connecting. Whenever a guest checks in, the information had to be fed into the computer, which will be shared with police department.

Police can analyse the data and only check those persons they find suspicious and others would be spared the trouble of being subjected to police scrutiny. The new system will be place from April 6.
