VISAKHAPATNAM: Aiming to achieve universal immunisation of all children below two years of age, the district administration will launch a campaign, supported by the Union government’s Mission Indradhanush Tuesday. State HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will launch the mission.
The mission aims to cover all the children who were not vaccinated or partially vaccinated against some of the deadly diseases.
There are 1,78,682 children under the age group of two years and 4,38,125 in 0-5 years age group. There are also 77,340 pregnant women in the district. The vaccination drive will be taken up to the grassroots level. The officials of the health department will coordinate with the field staff like Anganwadi workers, ASHA volunteers and others to ensure success of the programme.
