BSNL Revenue to Cross Rs 150 Cr This Fiscal

VIJAYAWADA:BSNL Krishna district, which had earned revenue to the tune of Rs 145.56 crore during 2014-15 expects to cross Rs 150-crore mark by the end of the current fiscal and looks for the data connectivity as a major revenue earner apart from mobile connectivity.

Disclosing the details to newsmen here Wednesday, BSNL Krishna senior general manager V Sundar said that with internet users increasing by the day over the years, the demand for faster and reliable connectivity is increasing. “The BSNL is always considered reliable and has been offering plethora of data packages serving people with different requirements. In 2012-13, the data usage stood at 6 TB in the district and in 2013-14, it increased manifold and was 31 TB,” he explained.

Giving the current status of the BSNL in the district, he said that there are 184 exchanges of which 23 are urban and the remaining are rural. There are 1,42,406 landline customers, 30,621 broadband customers, 6,10,590 mobile customers.

In 2014-15, the BSNL saw an increase of 13,885 landline customers, 78,991 mobile customers and 12,813 broadband customers. “We have facilitated live webcasting at 2,500 locations during general elections and provided broadband connectivity at 402 e-Panchayats in the district,” he explained. The Krishna district topped the charts by achieving 100 per cent targets in every segment.
