VIJAYAWADA:For those who are habituated to extracting bribes, no situation, however poignant it might be, would move them. Look at Sub-Treasury officer M Nagamani at Machilipatnam who demanded and accepted Rs 3,000 as bribe for releasing Rs 20,000 meant for performing funeral rites of an employee of the medical department.
According to ACB officials, Nagamani was caught on Thursday accepting the bribe. The medical department employee Devi Sarojini, who retired from service, passed away on March 9. Her son Harikrishna approached the Treasury Office for release of Rs 20,000 for funeral expenses.
