VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner G Veerapandian directed the public health department officials to take measures for the free flow of water in drains in One Town area and to create awareness among the public regarding the ill-effects of open defecation.
He inspected BRP road, Bhavanarayana street, Subba Ramaiah street and other areas of 39 division here on Monday and expressed displeasure over improper maintenance of gym in Subbaramaiah street and instructed the officials to provide basic facilities in the gym.
He pulled up assistant engineer for not resolving complaints received long ago against the damaged mesh covering the main drain and ordered him to redress the problem immediately.
As the people are facing difficulties with lack of bus shelters on BRP road, the commissioner asked the city planning officials to prepare a design for the construction of a model bus shelter at that place.
