Maoist Undertrials to go on Strike

VISAKHAPATNAM: Protesting against the alleged extra-judicial killings by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana police, seven undertrials belonging to the Central Committee of the banned CPI (Maoist) party will observe a one-day hunger strike on Wednesday in the Central Prisons at Visakhapatnam and Cherlapally in Hyderabad, where they are currently lodged.

Speaking to the media here Monday, civil rights activist and Revolutionary Writers Association member Varavara Rao said that central committee members Varanasi Subrahmanyam, N Ravi Sharma and Purnendu Mukherjee in Visakhapatnam jail and Akhilesh Yadav, Bacha Prasad Singh, Amit Bagchi and Vijay Kumar Arya, in Cherlapally would be taking part in the protest.
