City PSUs Remember Ambedkar with Gratitude

VISAKHAPATNAM : The public sector units in the city Tuesday celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar in a grand manner by organising blood donation camps and plantation programmes. The managements conducted special programmes as a tribute to Ambedkar.

RINL Chairman-cum-managing director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) P Madhusudan recalled the services and contribution of Ambedkar in framing the Indian Constitution and for uplift of women and particularly the downtrodden in the society. The CMD paid rich tributes and garlanded the statue of Ambedkar in the presence RINL directors PC Mohapatra, GBS Prasad, DN Rao, TVS Krishna Kumar and representatives of SC and ST welfare association and other union leaders in the VSP township.

On the occasion, Madhusudan observed that Ambedkar was a symbol of social justice and his visionary leadership and determination in achieving individual rights was highly appreciated by one and all in the country and abroad. Madhusudan called upon the VSP collective to work with team spirit and dedication to reap the benefits by ramping up and stabilising the production from the new units of 6.3 mtpa capacity.

Liaison Officer, SC and ST cell, B Naik presided over the meeting. President and general secretaries of Steel Executives Association YK Garg and P Satyanarayana, general secretary of the recognised trade union Mantri Rajasekhar, leaders of SC and ST Employees Association Jagjeevanram, Anvesh, K Raghavulu and WIPS representative Sheeba Rani paid tributes to Ambedkar. Later, the CMD and the directors distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions conducted on the topic ‘Contribution of Ambedkar in shaping Modern India’ by welfare section of HR department. Later, Madhusudan along with GBS Prasad planted saplings at the Steel Executives Association Bhavan to mark the occasion.

HPCL-VR

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) Visakh Refinery celebrated the Ambedkar Jayanthi at its administrative building. The portrait of Ambedkar was garlanded by executive director-VR G Sriganesh and president of HPCL SC and ST Welfare Association P Krishnavataram and other senior colleagues.

Addressing the gathering, Sriganesh highlighted the contributions of Ambedkar, especially with reference to empowerment of women in the Constitution and the formation of Reserve Bank of India guidelines. On the occasion, a blood donation camp was organised in the Refinery wherein all personnel of HPCL including contract workers participated. The camp was inaugurated by  Sriganesh. Manager (HR) Milan Nag and Deputy Manager (HR) G Sasibushana Rao was present.

DCIL

Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, jayanthi was celebrated by the Dredging Corporation of India Limited at its administrative building. VUDA vice- chairman T Baburao Naidu paid floral tributes to Ambedkar.

DCIL chairman and managing director Rajesh Tripati, president of SC and ST Employees Welfare Association NS Neelakanta Rao paid tributes to  Ambedkar. On the occasion, Baburao Naidu highlighted the various services rendered  by Ambedkar and his role as a social reformer.

NTPC

The NTPC, Simhadri, celebrated the Ambedkar jayanthi at Sakuntalam auditorium. Children of four hostels of SC, ST and BC in the vicinity of the power plant participated.

Group general manager of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant AK Samanta paid tributes and garlanded Ambedkar photo followed by general managers M Sivaramakrishna, Santosh James, RPJ Stephen, A Maity and assistant general manager KS Murthy. NTPC SC and ST Employees Welfare Association president Ravi Kumar and general secretary G Satya Rao were present.

APEPDCL

While celebrating the Ambedkar jayanthi, APEPDCL directors V Krishna and K Lakhshmi Narayana Rao reminisced his services to the nation. They said that Ambedkar was the spirit of India. His legacy, as a socio-political reformer, had a deep impact on modern India, they observed. On the occasion, a Telugu documentary film on Ambedkar was screened. APSEB SC and ST Employees Welfare Association EPDCL unit president Y Vishnu and general secretary Ch Saibabu, chief general managers B Ramesh Prasad, KSN Murty, K Suryabhaskara Rao, O Simhadri and AV Suryanarayana Rao, SE M Satyanarayana Murty and others were present.
