Compensation for Crop Loss Promised

ONGOLE: Roads and buildings minister Sidda Raghava Rao said that the government will make efforts to give compensation to the farmers, whose crops were damaged due to the unexpected rain and hailstorms in the region.

The minister visited Rajupalem, Juvvaleru villages in Podili mandal, where papaya, paddy and corn crops were damaged, on Thursday. 

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said about 300 hectares of paddy, papaya, corn and betel leaves were damaged as per prelimnary estimates.

He directed the officials concerned to enumerate the exact extent of crop loss and submit a report to the state government. Joint collector M Hari Jawaharlal and horticulture department additional director C Rajendra Krishna were present.
