Chess Champ from KV Calls on VSP Chief

VISAKHAPATNAM : A Class XII student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ukkunagaram, master V Pranavananda has been selected for the International Youth Chess Tournament to be held in Moscow from June 22 to July 1.

Chairman-cum-managing director, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, P Madhusudan, while congratulating Pranavananda, observed that it was a proud moment for the entire RINL collective for representing India in the global chess youth tournament when he called on him Friday along with his father V Mohan Rao, who is a deputy manager in the Light Medium Merchant Mill, and the Principal of KV with the trophy he annexed in the Under-17 tourney held at Patna recently.

Master Pranavananda has been playing chess since he was nine years old and represented North Andhra region in the open category and participated in the World Junior Championship below 2200 (catgory) international open rating championship held in Bhubaneswar. He has several gold medals to his credit in various competitions. His present rating is 2246.
