APSRTC Restores Bus Services to TN, Except Vellore

TIRUPATI: APSRTC restored a majority of bus services to various parts of Tamil Nadu,  except Vellore and Thiruvannamalai, on Saturday. Services to Tamil Nadu started partially Friday evening to a few places.

RTC authorities got clearance from their counterparts in Tamil Nadu as well as police and restored about 150 services out of the total 214.

According to Tirupati regional deputy chief traffic manager Timmidi Chengal Reddy, buses were operated to Chennai, Kanchi and other parts of Tamil Nadu  from Tirupati, Srikalahasti and other places in Chittoor district.

However, RTC is yet to get police clearance for running buses to Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and surrounding places.

As most of the red sanders woodcutters killed in the encounter in Seshachalam forest were from Tiruvannamalai and Vellore districts, the APSRTC officials decided to operate the 60 services to these destinations only after getting clearance.
