'Art Needs Patronage for Survival'

VIJAYAWADA:The government will give utmost importance to cultural aspects and their development in the capital region, Government communication advisor Parakala Prabhakar has said.  After visiting the art gallery at the Cultural Centre of Vijaywada here Sunday, he said the city has always been the focal point of culture. “The government is serious about protecting and propagating its culture and heritage,” he said. Citing the example of the plans to develop Kuchipudi Natyaramam at a cost of `100 crore as an effort to conserve and propagate art forms, Prabhakar said any artform can only thrive, when it has good patronage. On the occasion some artistes stressed the need for setting up Lalita Kala Academy, Fine Arts college and art galleries in every district.
