Auto Driver Rapes Schoolgirl in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: In yet another shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old in Gajuwaka Friday evening. The incident came to light when the girl, along with her mother, lodged a complaint with the police Saturday. The accused, Siva, is a resident of Gangavaram and an auto-rickshaw driver.

According to Gajuwaka CI Appa Rao, the victim is a resident of Kurupam area and Class VIII student of a private school in Gajuwaka. As usual she went to school Friday and was waiting for the city bus during to return home when two persons, the accused and another man called Chanti, came by an auto-rickshaw. Chanti too, resides in Gangavaram area and works at the Visakha Steel Plant. The girl knew Siva well since she boarded his auto many times earlier.  When Siva called her saying that he was going to RTC Complex at Dwarakanagar, she boarded the auto.

After she got in, Siva tried to convince her that he was willing to marry her and diverted the auto to an isolated place and allegedly raped her. The girl reported the matter to her mother Friday night. They lodged a complaint with the One Town PS and the case was transferred to the Gajuwaka PS.

The police said that cases had been registered against Siva and his accomplice Chanti.
