Road Blockade against New MV Act

VISAKHAPATNAM: Members of CITU, AITUC, INTUC, BMS and HMS took part in a roundtable Saturday and decided to stage a protest, including road blockade, on April 30 against the new amendment to the MV Act 2014 by the Central government. They said that the new Act was completely against road-users, and would ensure huge fines for petty offences.

The trade unions exhorted the people to support their cause. AITUC member V Murthy said that if and when the new Act comes into effect, all drivers should get seat belts and special, costly devices which could track the location and speed of the vehicle. Other trade union (TU) members said that violations will invite negative pointsand lead to cancellation of licences even.
