Transport Dept Allows 4,500 More Autos to Ply in V'wada

VIJAYAWADA: The Road Transport authorities will allow another 4,500 autos in Vijayawada in addition to existing 8,600 autos.

According to police commissioner AB Venkateswara Rao, those who have permits to run autos in Ibrahimpatnam, Gannavaram and Penamaluru should sell their autos to drivers in other districts and provide evidence to the Transport authorities.

Then they would be given permits to operate autos in Vijayawada on a first-come-first-served basis for the first 4,500 autos. The facility is being provided to them in pursuance of a GO issued by the government after representations by politicians and auto union leaders.

As regards operation of Teja autos, the police commissioner said three months time will be given to them for plying the National Highway cutting through the city. They should sell their vehicles in other districts during this period  and apply for permits.
