19 Awards Presented at ENC's Fleet Evening

VISAKHAPATNAM:Fleet Evening 2015 or FLING, the annual awards function of the Eastern Fleet commemorating the accomplishments of the ‘Sword Arm’ of the Eastern Naval Command (ENC), was held at Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam Saturday night. A total of 19 trophies, representing varied dimensions of maritime operations, were awarded to meritorious ships. INS Ranjit and INS Karmuk were jointly adjudged the Most Spirited Ships and the Best Ship Trophy was awarded to INS Sahyadri. ENC Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Satish Soni was the chief guest at the event hosted by Rear Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. The event was conducted to recognise overall excellence and valuable contribution of individual ships and the gallant men, who have maintained constant vigil in service to the nation. During the function, the fleet operations officer presented the annual report of the activities/achievements of the Fleet over the past year. The Fleet was deployed for numerous operations in the Indian Ocean region and witnessed intense activities spanning the entire spectrum of maritime operations including participation in TROPEX-15 on the West Coast, deployments in South China Sea, Western Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Aden and South Indian Ocean.
