Fugitive Actress Finally Arrested for Helping Smuggler

KURNOOL:Actress Nitu Agarwal of Prema Prayanam fame, on the run ever since the arrest of her partner and red sanders smuggler Mastan Vali, was arrested at Ulindakonda while she was fleeing to Bangalore on Sunday.

She was produced in the Koilakuntla court which remanded her in judicial custody till May 7. She was later taken to the Nandyala sub -jail. Prema Prayanam was produced by Mastan Vali, who is currently lodged in the Anantapur jail. She allegedly routed proceeds from smuggling of red sanders through her bank accounts.

Producing her before the media, district SP A Ravi Krishna said the actress, a native of Rajasthan, was maintaining bank accounts, from which Rs 1,05,000 was transferred to Balu Naik, a red sanders smuggler from Chagalamarri. “She has also made several other transactions from her accounts in various banks to others linked to Mastan Vali’s illegal business. We seized the car in which she was trying to escape to Bangalore apart from freezing her bank accounts,” the SP said.
