Temple Thief Held

VIJAYAWADA: Prakash Sahu, wanted in connection with the theft of the deity’s gold crown and jewellery at Kanaka Durga temple atop the Indrakeeladri in 1998,  was apprehended by city police on Wednesday.

According to sources, the police made the arrest in a hotel at Krishnalanka.

Sahu recently stole 40 kg gold from the Saibaba temple at Prasadampadu. The police identified Sahu after watching the CCTV footage.

Sahu, who belongs to Madhya Pradesh, was initially an electrician but later started committing thefts in TS, AP, Odisha, MP, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
