Exchange of Fire Between Cops, Maoists

VISAKHAPATNAM : A group of police officials and maoists reportedly exchanged fire at Ginnela forest area of Araku mandal in Visakhapatnam agency, Friday. Police recovered 14 kit bags from the spot during the fire exchange. However no casualties have been reported.

According to superintendent of police (Visakhpatnam Rural) Koya Praveen, the police spotted a group of Maoists and asked them to surrender, during a normal course of combing operations in the area at around 2 am. However, the Maoists opened fire against police which was retaliated. Special teams are continuing the combing operations in the area to nab Maoists.
