VISAKHAPATNAM:On the first day of the Helmet Compulsory rule by the State Government, special patrol drives conducted by the Visakhapatnam Traffic Department have booked around 1,900 cases in the city limits in a single day and collected a total fine of Rs 1,90,000. The police warned city motorists that they are going to intensify vigilance.
With several teams deployed in various parts of the city, the Traffic Department nabbed violators by the dozens.
Additional deputy commissioner of Police (Traffic) K Mahendra Patrudu said that teams led by traffic inspectors and sub-inspectors carried out their duties successfully without disturbing the traffic flow in the peak hours.
