CPM Flays Prathipati's Remarks on Migration

VIJAYAWADA:The CRDA unit of the CPM has come down heavily on Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao for saying that the government will bear the expenses of those who want to leave Amaravati capital region in search of livelihood.

In a statement here, CPM CRDA convenor Ch Babu Rao said that by saying that the government would bear the expenses, it has unwittingly admitted that migration of people in search of livelihood has begun with the government beginning the process of converting agriculture land into a concrete jungle.

Babu Rao said that the agriculture minister should hang his head in shame for making such a statement. Already farm labourers have begun leaving the Amaravati capital region as they have been thrown out of employment. Though the government had announced that it would pay Rs 2,500 as pension to the landless poor, it had not paid anything to any one of them.
