VISAKHAPATNAM: GITAM Institute of Management (GIM) is organising Outbound Training (OBT) Programme-GURUKOOL for all the new students of its various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes from July 15 to August 11. Each batch, accompanied by a faculty member, under the guidance of experienced trainers from Maven Training Consultants, will undergo a three-and-a-half day training at a venue around 30 km from Vizag.

It was formally inaugurated by Maple Software Pvt Ltd CEO GS Shiv Kumar in the presence of GIM dean and principal K Siva Rama Krishna. The first batch of students from MBA first year accompanied by the trainers and the faculty was flagged off Wednesday.

Based on the philosophy of Kurt Hahn, OBT is all about providing opportunities for self-discovery, personality development and social skills through outdoor exposure. The innovative experiential learning programme is based on the ancient Indian Gurukul system where princes would be trained to become kings through real life learning.

A ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience, the OBT is aimed at helping students discover their own inner selves and goals in life.
