TTD to Set Up Eye, Cancer Hospitals

TIRUPATI: There must be equal participation of hospitals maintained by the TTD and the government, along with private hospitals to develop Tirupati in to a medical hub, said TTD EO D Sambasiva Rao in a press meet here on Sunday.

Earlier, he inaugurated Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at a private hospital.

“There are development activities in progress at SVIMS and BIRRD at a cost of Rs 60 crore. Exclusive hospitals for cancer and eye care would be set up either exclusively by the TTD or in collaboration with others within two years,” he said.

Explaining about the new institute, which is a joint venture between Livlife and Both hospitals, MD of Livlife Hospitals Dr Nanda Kishore said, “Bariatric surgery is totally different from liposuction in treating obesity.

When a patient undergoes the surgery, he can recover within a week and can lose up to 50 kg in a short period.” Balaji Orthopedic & Trauma Hospital chairman Dr Pasupuleti Hariprasad spoke.
