Ganja Trade Busted, Three Arrested

VISAKHAPATNAM: The IV Town cops raided a lodge and arrested three youngsters from Bihar, involved in ganja trade late Monday night. The arrested have been identified as D Bharadwaj (30), Sanjay Kumar Yadav (25) and Raj Kumar (21) of Bihar state. The trio were smuggling ganja packed in suitcases. Around Rs 6,000 cash and two mobile phones were seized from them.

According to IV Town inspector K Balakrishna, as per reliable information, they raided a lodge near Dondaparthy area and caught the culprits red-handed and recovered 35.5 kgs of ganja packed in three suitcases. Three kgs of the weed was stuffed per packet.

Upon investigating, it was found that the smugglers procured ganja from Visakhapatnam agency and were to sell it in another state. Police said that after procuring the weed, the accused halted at the lodge to board a train the next morning. However they were caught in the act.

Sources said that the smugglers packed ganja in suitcases and transported in minimal quantities in order to escape detection. Police also suspect the involvement of other gangs supporting the trio in the trade.
