Navy Chopper Makes Emergency Landing

VIZIANAGARAM:  Due to technical difficulty, a Navy helicopter initiated an emergency landing in the farmlands near Ramachandrapuram village of S. Kota mandal of Vizianagaram district Monday afternoon. Three Navy personnel, who were aboard the helicopter, are said to be safe.

According to the officials, the Chetak helicopter of Indian Navy adopted a precautionary landing at Ramachadrapuram village of Kotavalasa mandal after the pilot observed the engine warning indicator light. The officials said that the incident took place at around 1.30 pm. The helicopter departed from INS Dega on a routine training sortie with three crew members onboard. Navy officials, on being intimated, sent a technical team from the Naval Air Station to the landing site at Kothavalasa mandal to provide necessary assistance. The helicopter, after primary restoration, returned to INS Dega safely by evening. Curious over the incident, people crowded around the chopper. The police, on being informed, reached the spot to manage the crowds.
