9-year-old Drowns in Quarry Pond

VIZIANAGARAM:In a tragic incident, a 9-year-old boy drowned in a pond at a quarry at Ramachandrapeta village of Bhogapuram mandal here Sunday afternoon. The boy was identified as D Ramesh (9), a resident of Ramachandrapeta village and a class III student. His father is a daily labourer.

According to Bhogapuram sub-inspector of police S Deenabandhu, Ramesh and his friends were playing near the quarry when he entered the pond. As Ramesh slipped and fell into the pond, his friends informed the elders who jumped in and pulled him out, but in vain.

Parents of the boy and the locals held a protest against the software company who owns it. Police intervened and pacified them.
