VISAKHAPATNAM: The Anti corruption bureau (ACB) officials caught a food inspector, while accepting a bribe of `5,000 from a pan shop owner at his residence near NGOS Colony in the city, Thursday.
According to sources, Satyanarayana has been running a pan shop at Maharanipeta. Few days ago, food inspector K Jayaprakash raided the pan shop and registered a case against Satyanarayana allleging that selling pan masala (Gutka). It is said that the food inspector then demanded `5,000 as bribe to avoid a hefty fine.
Irked by the harrasment, Satyanarayana approached the ACB officials. A team of officials led by Deputy Superintendent of Police KV Ramakrishna Prasad (ACB Vizag) laid a trap and caught the food inspector redhanded Thursday, while accepting the money from the shop owner. He will be produced before the court on Friday.
