Vizianagaram Dist Gears Up to Face Bitter Summer

VIZIANAGARAM: Revealing steps taken to meet the water scarcity in the district, collector MM Naik said that all arrangements were being made to supply potable water to areas suffering from shortage. The collector said that every mandal has been provided with spare parts worth `3 to `4 lakh and an additional mechanic was also deployed. All hand pumps would be repaired within 24 hours of receiving a report, Naik said.

Under 21 CPW schemes, water is being supplied to 491 areas and out of them water is being supplied daily to 446 areas. After repairing pipelines and air valves with the 13th Finance Commission funds, water would be supplied to 46 more areas, the collector said.
