Finally, People to get Water from Chagallu Reservoir

ANANTAPUR: Information, Public Relations and IT minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy along with Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy inaugurated the Chagallu reservoir in Paddapappur mandal of the district on Sunday. They lifted the crest gates of the reservoir and released the water to downstream.

Though the reservoir construction works were announced decades ago, the works were completed only in recent times.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghunatha Reddy said that the reservoir will help tackle water woes of Peddapappur and Tadipatri mandals.

Promising necessary water allocation to the reservoir, the minister offered to get government help for the district by bringing the existing drought conditions in the district to the notice of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Describing the Chagallu reservoir as his key achievement, Diwakar Reddy expressed his immense happiness over its completion and inauguration.

Stating that his dream of completing the reservoir and taking the water to his Tadipatri mandal came true with the inauguration, he said that it will help in overcoming water scarcity in the area to some extent. “Though we are releasing 0.5 tmcft of water from the reservoir at present, we will strive for bringing more water,” he said.

MLAs JC Prabhakar Reddy and Suryanarayana were present.
