2 Students Held for Snatching Chains

TIRUPATI: Tirupati Urban police on Monday arrested two chain-snatchers and recovered from their possession gold ornaments, including 13 mangala sutras, worth `11 lakh.

Disclosing the details to newsmen here, Tirupati Urban SP Gopinath Jatti said for the last couple of months complaints about chain-snatching were increasing under Alipiri police station limits.

As many as 13 complaints were registered till now. Considering the issue as very serious, a team of police were pressed into action to nab the miscreants.

On Monday, M Purushottam and L Prem Sai, both under 21 years, were moving under suspicious circumstances in one of the colonies in the town.

After taking them into custody, police during interrogation found that they were involved in various chain-snatching incidents.
