Cash Incentives for Sportspersons Hiked

VIJAYAWADA:The state government has issued GO RT No 81, enhancing cash incentives for the sportspersons who have won medals at the 35th National Games 2015 held in Kerala.

According to a press release here on Tuesday from the Youth Advancement, Tourism and Sports Department, the cash incentives for gold medallists in the National Games is enhanced to Rs 7 lakh from Rs 3 lakh, silver medallists from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and bronze medallist Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh. An announcement to this effect was made by minister of sports K Atchennaidu on Jan 28, it said.

As many as 16 medals were bagged by sportspersons in five disciplines in the National Games, out of which seven were gold medals, three were silver medals and six were bronze medals. The government had released Rs 78 lakh for medal winners and cash incentives would be distributed to them soon.
