VISAKHAPATNAM:The Gajuwaka police Tuesday arrested V Rajasekhar (30), for murdering his mother V Jayalakshmi at Ashok Nagar in Gajuwaka on March 20.

He was produced in court which sent him to 15 days remand. Gajuwaka CI Appa Rao said that Rajasekhar and his mother have been having disputes. Recently, at his mother’s insistence he bought a flat in the city, and reportedly felt it was a waste of money. Rajasekhar also has a girlfriend and his mother did not consent to their marriage. On March 20, Jayalakshmi and Rajasekhar again argued about the flat and his girlfriend, when in a fit of rage, Rajasekhar smashed her head against the wall, killing her. Rajashekar packed his mother’s body in a gunny bag and stored it in the store room on the ground floor of his house. His sister Rajyalakshmi was out of town when the incident occurred.

On March 22, Rajyalakshmi returned and asked Rajasekhar about their mother, to which he said that she went out of station. But Rajyalakshmi’s doubts over her brother’s story, and the locals’ complaint over bad smell emanating from the house led her to lodge a complaint with the police, who investigated and recovered the body. Police said that Rajasekhar planned to flee by taking the jewellery from his mother’s body and selling them. However, he was nabbed and spilled the beans during interrogation.
