Poorna Market to get a Facelift

VISAKHAPATNAM : The city’s oldest and most popular Poorna Market will get a facelift. GVMC commissioner J Pravin Kumar, in his routine area checkup, visited the place Thursday morning, where he asked the  officials to chalk out plans for allotment of shops in the market and creation of parking slots.

As traffic congestion is a common thing in the Poorna Market area, Pravin Kumar wanted the officials to mark the parking slots for vehicles on the market premises. He also inspected some of the drains which are being neglected without maintenance and asked the zonal commissioner concerned to complete the drain works immediately. There would be separate parking lots for two and four-wheelers. Basic amenities like toilets and drinking water would be provided in Poorna Market and other major markets.

The GVMC chief also inspected the area where some vendors occupied allotted shops of other people. He told the shopkeepers and vendors to maintain discipline and use their allotted space. He also advised the shopkeepers against dumping waste at nearby places and asked them to keep the surroundings clean.
