Narasaraopet to Host Nataka Ranga Dinotsavam on April 16

GUNTUR: The district will be hosting “Telugu Nataka Ranga Dinotsavam”, a state function at Narasaraopet on April 16. A decision to this effect was taken by the State government, said Assembly Speaker K Sivaprasad Rao.

Reviewing arrangements at Bhuvanachandra Auditorium (Town Hall) in Narasaraopet on Monday, he said several luminaries in different fields, more so from arts and literature, hail from Narasaraopet. For the last one year, it has become a practice to hold cultural programmes every second Sunday of month at Town Hall.  On the occasion, he expressed happiness over 500-episode popular programme ‘Padutha Teeyaga’ in the town.

“We are also contemplating to have Narasaraopet host Nandi Awards next year. We are confident that with the cooperation of the people of the town, any programme can be hosted successfully,” he said. He stressed the need for conserving art forms like Harikatha, Burrakatha, Tolubommalata which are steadily losing patronage. He reminded that in foreign countries, when a play is to be performed, tickets are reserved in advance, but the situation is not the same in the country.

He stressed the need for improving sound systems and infrastructure facilities at the Town Hall, which will be the venue of  ‘Telugu Nataka Ranga Dinotsavam’.
