VIJAYAWADA:A 28-year-old woman was killed by a middle-aged man, her relative, at YSR Colony at Jakkampudi, near here, Saturday, for allegedly refusing to continue her extra-marital affair with him.
According to Kothapeta CI N Durga Rao, J Lakshmi was married to J Rama Rao, an employee of a footwear shop in the city. The mother of two had maintained an affair with her relative M Nagaraju (45). When Lakshmi’s husband warned her after learning about the affair, she started maintaining a distance from Nagaraju.
On Saturday, when Lakshmi went to her friend Jyothi’s house, which is in the first floor, to borrow kerosene, Nagaraju followed her and tried to convince her to continue the affair. When she refused, he slashed her throat with a kitchen knife and fled. She died on the spot. Jyothi, who was in another room at the time, rushed to the spot only to find her friend in a pool of blood. She alerted the police. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
