GUNTUR:Police on Wednesday forcefully shifted actor Sivaji, who has been on a ‘hunger strike’ for the last four days demanding Special Category status to Andhra Pradesh, as promised on the floor of Parliament.
With the health of the actor deteriorating, doctors advised him to withdraw the fast, but he refused. On the directions of higher officials, police shifted the actor from his protest camp at the district collectorate to government hospital in 108 emergency vehicle.
Though the doctors administered intravenous fluids initially, Sivaji did cooperate with them when the police refused him permission to speak to the media. Since then, he has been refusing fluids stating he is continuing his fast.
Earlier, at the protest camp, the police had a tough time shifting him to hospital, with the activists of Mala Mahanadu, who were supporting Sivaji’s ‘deeksha’, tried to obstruct them. On Tuesday also, police tried to end the actor’s protest but in vain.
