33 Hurt as Pvt Bus Overturns

SRIKAKULAM:As many as 30 passengers suffered minor injuries and another three were severely hurt when a private bus overturned after hitting a road divider on the National Highway at Peddapadu village in the wee hours of Thursday. All the injured were the residents of Purushotpuram village in Odisha state.

According to the police, the bus was heading to Nourangpur with around 46 passengers. Near Peddapadu village, the driver lost control over the vehicle due to overspeeding, hitting the road divider and turning turtle.

While 30 passengers sustained minor injuries, another three people suffered serious injuries to their legs and hands. Passersby alerted the police who rushed to the spot along with emergency services and rescued the passengers. The injured were shifted to RIMS for treatment.

Meanwhile, the bus driver fled the spot. The police registered a case and took up investigation. They are also making alternative arrangements for the passengers to reach their native place in Odisha.
