Good News! City to Receive Rainfall in Next 24 Hours

VISAKHAPATNAM: Music to the ears of Vizagites reeling under the heat wave! Going by the predictions of the Cyclone Warning Centre Friday, thundershowers and rainfall are likely in the region in the next 24 hours. Araku, Ananthagiri and a few other areas of Visakhapatnam agency witnessed 2-cm rainfall in the last 24 hours already, even as Vizianagaram agency has also been witnessing rainfall for the last 24 hours. The temperatures have also been dropping in the districts of North Andhra for the last couple of days, providing much required respite to people.

The summer in the region this year has been downright terrible, what with temperatures touching 45 in Visakhapatnam district. As many as 180 deaths have occurred in in the district till Friday. Sources say that many deaths still go unreported. The maximum temperature in Waltair was 34.1 degree Celsius, while it was 37 degrees Celsius at Visakhapatnam Airport.

In Vizianagaram district, as many as 161 deaths have been reported till Friday. The Fort Town recorded 36 degrees Celsius and Parvathipuram 35 degree Celsius. Heat wave was felt only during the afternoon. Salur, Parvathipuram and a few other hilly regions of Vizianagaram agency witnessed slight rain.

Srikakulam witnessed a drop in temperatures and the heat wave abated. Srikakulam town recorded 34 degree Celsius Friday. Several areas in the district including Etcherla, Ranasthalam and interior areas of Narsannapeta received rain. As many as 58 deaths have been reported from the district till Friday.
