Woman's Body Found Floating in Pond

VISAKHAPATNAM: An unidentified body of a woman, aged around 50-55 years, was found in a pond at Indira Park under the Steel plant police station limits here Wednesday morning.

According to Steel Plant PS inspector K Durga Prasad, staff of the Indira Park intimated the police after noticing the body floating in the pond.

“The body did not have any marks. However, the face was eaten by fishes, and cannot be recognised properly,” said the inspector. The police also said that some people of Odisha in the area sell lotus flowers. The florists go into the pond to pluck lotuses. The pond has plenty of them. “We suspect that the dead woman is one of them and the incident might have happened in the evening. She might have slipped and drowned while plucking flowers,” he added. However, to ascertain the exact cause, police are awaiting the postmortem report, which is expected in a couple of days. A case has been booked. Investigation is on.
