Ongole IIIT to be Named After Kalam

HYDERABAD: With a view to keeping the memories of former Indian president the late APJ Abdul Kalam alive and to pay rich tributes to him for the services he rendered to the nation, the Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced that the proposed IIIT in Ongole would be named after Kalam.

An award would also be instituted on Kalam’s name, which would be given to meritorious students. This apart, a statue of Kalam would be erected in Acharya Nagarjuna University. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made an announcement to this effect, while paying tributes to the late president on the first day of the monsoon session of AP Assembly on Monday. Earlier, the state Assembly passed a resolution paying rich tributes to Kalam. Naidu said that Kalam was an unending source of inspiration for the youth of the country.
