Realtor Turned Land Grabber Arrested

VISAKHAPATNAM:The city police arrested a real-estate broker, Yerra Eeswara Rao, for allegedly grabbing about one acre land belonging to another person in Anandapuram mandal Thursday. The accused already has two cheating cases against him in the Pothinamallayyapalem police station.

According to deputy commissioner of police (Law and Order, Zone-2) CM Trivikrama Varma, the accused, Yerra Eswara Rao, trespassed and occupied 85 cents of land belonging to B Appala Raju, P Niranjan and C Ramana by creating a general power of attorney (GPA) from Nimmala Venkata Rao. With the fake GPA, the accused registered the land in his name on April 20, 2015.

Similarly, Eeswara Rao also occupied 27 cents of land belonging to P Ramu in the same mandal. Based on the complaints from the victims, police took Nimmala Venkata Rao, who signed the GPA, into custody. During interrogation, it was found that Venkata Rao had no connection with the land or the accused. However, the inquiry revealed that there are over 10 cases pending against Eeswara Rao.

One of the complaints against Eeswara Rao was of the brother of Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, the DCP said. The accused took an advance of Rs 1.5 crore from the MLA’s brother but did not register the land.

The DCP informed that the accused had collected over Rs 7 crore in all the 13 cases registered at various police stations, and added that they are investigating the case.
