VDCA Stadium to Get Test Match Status Soon

VISAKHAPATNAM : Being the only International stadium in divided Andhra Pradesh, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA cricket stadium in Visakhapatnam would be accorded with Test match status before 2017, said BCCI vice-president and general secretary of Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) Gokaraju Ganga Raju. He was addressing the closing ceremony of Appala Raju Pusapati Memorial Under-19 Cricket Tournament 2015 at YSR ACA-VDCA stadium here Wednesday.

Ganga Raju confirmed that the modification works with respect to the suggestions of the ICC and executive body of BCCI would be completed in six-seven months.

The issue of test status is not only for Vizag but also for Rajkot, the officials concerned are expecting both the stadiums to get Test match status soon, he added.

Recollecting the services of late Appala Raju Pusapati, the ACA authorities said that Appala Raju had played vital role for developing cricket in Andhra and in the construction of ACA-VDCA stadium.

U-19 Test Winners

Mumbai under-19 team won the Appala Raju Pusapati Memorial U-19 test cricket tournament with 9 points, while team West Bengal is the runners up. The matches were held in Vizag and Vizianagaram. Similarly West Bengal U-19 team lifted the winner’s trophy of Appala Raju Pusapati Memorial U-19 ODLO cricket tournament.
