AP Congress for Probe Into PRMC Wall Collapse

VIJAYAWADA: The Congress has demanded institution of an inquiry into how the retaining wall of the Pattiseema Right Main Canal (PRMC) had collapsed at Janampet in West Godavari district barely days after the motor of Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project was switched on.

In a statement here on Tuesday, party district president K Butchi Babu and PCC spokesperson K Sivaji said that Godavari waters reached Ibrahimpatnam ferry 33 days after Pattiseema was dedicated to the nation but the government had celebrated the occasion as historic.

They also wanted a status paper issued on how many pumps were being installed at Pattiseema as there were conflicting reports on the number. It was strange that the Polavaram canal had breached with water pumped into it by a single motor.

The Congress leaders later  organised a dharna at the Sub-Collector’s Office.
