Contests to Mark World Egg Day on October 9

 VIJAYAWADA:Cultural programmes promoting consumption of eggs and contests would mark the World Egg Day celebrations to be held in Vijayawada, one of the four cities selected in India, on October 9.

Animal husbandry principal secretary Manmohan Singh and district collector Babu A discussed various programmes that should be held to mark the World Egg Day celebrations which would be inaugurated by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Important dignitaries from South India are being invited to take part in the celebrations. Andhra Pradesh ranks second in the country in production of eggs and the poultry sector with a turnover of Rs 8,000 crore.

The celebrations would include contests in making egg-based preparations with participation from hoteliers, students and the people.
